B M College B M College originated from Brajamohan School which was established in barisal in 1884. romesh chandra dutt, then district magistrate of Barisal, motivated aswini kumar datta to establish the school. It was named after his father Brajamohan Dutta. The school started functioning as a second grade college with the introduction of F A classes in 1889.

Bishkhali River

Bishkhali River Bishkhali River continuation of the kirtankhola and nalchity rivers. The arial khan picks up the name 'Bhasani Char' as it enters into Bhasani Char of the barisal sadar upazila. Similarly it changes her name as the Kirtankhola at 5 km north of Barisal town, as Nalchity in nalchity upazila (jhalokati district) and as Sugandha in jhalokati sadar upazila. The Sugandha turns into Bishkhali after entering Jhalokati town.

Qasba Mosque

Qasba Mosque Qasba Mosque nine-domed mosque, which derives its name from the village Qasba under gournadi upazila in Barisal district, is located a few yards away from the Barisal-Faridpur highway. The tank in front of the mosque, now almost dried up, appears to have been dug at the same time as the mosque to serve as an ablution pond.
This is a typical multi-domed square structure built entirely of well-burnt red bricks, save for the four stone pillars that support the domes on the roof. The walls are very massive with a thickness of 2.

Durgasagar

Durgasagar Durgasagar with an area of about 2,500 hectare, is the largest pond or dighi of southern Bangladesh. It is located at Madhabpasa village of babuganj upazila, about 11 km away from barisal town. Locally it is known as Madhabpasha Dighi. According to a desire of Rani Durgavati, mother of Raja Joynarayan, the dighi was dug in 1780 (1187 BS).

Sher-e-Bangla Medical College

Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Sher-e-Bangla Medical College located in the south-eastern part of Barisal town on the bank of river Kirtonkhola, the college started functioning in 1968 as Barisal Medical College, though the foundation stone was laid in 1964. It was renamed as Sher-e-Bangla Medical College after the name of late Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq hailing from Barisal. The college is affiliated to the University of Dhaka; recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. The General Medical Council (GMC) of UK recognises the MBBS degree obtained by the students of this college.

Patuakhali Science and Technology University

Patuakhali Science and Technology University Patuakhali Science and Technology University during the Fifth Five-Year Plan of 1997-2002, the Government of Bangladesh took up a project to establish 12 Science and Technology Universities in the country, one in each such district where there was no university. The main objective of the project was to spread higher education and research on science and technology to all parts of the country.
It was decided to establish the universities in two phases- 6 in the first phase and the remaining 6 in the second. Patuakhali Science and Technology University came up as one in the first phase, along with five others - Haji Danesh at Dinajpur, Bangabandhu at Gopalganj, Moulana Bhasani at Tangail, and Rangpur and Rangamati.

Tentulia River

Tentulia River Tentulia River a flow of the Lower Meghna River. Originating from the meghna at north of bhola district, the river flows over Tentulia, Nimdi, Kalaia and Purbamunia to fall into the bay of bengal at Rangopaldi of galachipa upazila as the Buragouranga.
In the past the river was a torrential one, but at present it becomes gentle due to a great braid formation. The Tentulia disconnected the Bhola district from the main land of barisal.

Masjidbari Mosque

Masjidbari Mosque Masjidbari Mosque situated on the river Aila in Masjidbari village under Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali district. According to an inscription one Khan Muazzam Aziyal Khan built this mosque in 870 AH (1465 AD) during the reign of Sultan ruknuddin barbak shah. The mosque was left unused for a long time being thickly covered by a heavy jungle. It was discovered in 1860 when a survey was going on in this southern part of Bangladesh.
